2/22/07 - Oil Analysis – Good for Planet Earth?

A well managed Condition Based Maintenance Program can have positive impacts on many aspects of an operation including safety, financial performance and the environment.


Consider the following:

• A well lubricated and tuned engine combusts fuel more efficiently and thus uses less fuel to do the same work. Oil Analysis can indicate when tuning and lubrication are sub optimal so they can be corrected quickly.
  
  
• A well managed fuel and lubricants supply chain is less likely to be susceptible to hydrocarbon losses through leaks, spills, contamination and evaporation.
  
  
• Well optimized oil drain programs and changing oil on condition can dramatically reduce oil consumption by between 5 and 45%
  
  
• Properly lubricated mechanical components require less power and last longer, consuming less energy and reducing fossil fuel usage.
