1/17/07 - Action Tracking Drives Accountability

Many Condition Based programs are highly effective at identifying potential equipment problems, using a variety of tools like Oil analysis, vibration analysis, Thermography, and a new breed of on board equipment information systems.

In mining, oil analysis is a tremendously important tool due to the cost and criticality of lubricated components like engines and transmissions, which literally drive mining.

Once a developing problem has been identified, the most important job of the maintenance team is to take action to either prevent or reduce the impact of the event on the mine.

The Action Tracking module of Trakka, helps do just that. It creates a reminder task for each open situation, and provides easy to use tools which can be used in planning meetings to review the status of each issue. This means that nothing falls through the cracks, and that the appropriate people and actions are involved. Dingo staff facilitate a weekly review of items in the Action tracking module, and a simple summary appears on the dashboard for quick reference.

Customers tell us that this helps bring accountability and a sense of achievement to their Condition Based Asset Management programs.

The action Tracking module provides users with a place to and process flow to specify what action should be taken and when. This list can be reviewed in a weekly meeting maintenance meeting, to review what progress has been made and close out actions. This creates an environment of accountability and reduces the chances of things falling through the cracks.

A detailed Action Details Review screen enables maintenance staff to see the recommendations provided by Condition Intelligence staff, assign this action to an individual and provides a place for comments. A work order number can be referenced.
