Eastern Municipal Water District recruits
Dingo to help improve their processes

A highly specialized oil analysis program and in-depth training equips EMWD to swim upstream

As the top provider of water to western Riverside County, CA, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) understands the importance of having world-class maintenance programs in place.

Riverside County is situated in the southeastern portion of California, stretching from Orange County to the border of Arizona, along the Colorado River. It is one of the driest regions in the state, with an average rainfall of less than 12", annually. EMWD has been the largest provider of freshwater, wastewater and recycled water services to a 542-square foot mile area in this region which encompasses a population of just under 700,000, since the mid 1950's.

In 2009, EMWD was in need of improving and bringing consistency to their oil analysis and predictive maintenance programs. EMWD contacted Dingo, who put together a program which centered on Dingo's Condition Intelligence®. This program, covering EMWD's remote pumping stations, has expanded to include a Lab Assessment plan and, in the future, will also include Dingo's Base Trakka™ Software Oil Analysis Module.

In parallel to implementing EMWD's program, Dingo's Jeff Walkup travelled to EMWD's Riverside County sites in the summer of 2010 for additional training with their key personnel and maintenance technicians. The training centered around an introduction to Oil Analysis and the functionality and use of Trakka™, Dingo's Oil Analysis software. This visit also allowed for observation in the field, identifying equipment locations, and an evaluation of the District's bulk delivery truck.

The initial program has been so successful in increasing equipment availability and improving their preventive maintenance, that EMWD is now exploring expanding the program company-wide. EMWD's Senior Maintenance Engineer, Ed Serna said, "We have been able to be more disciplined in maximizing the benefits of proactive and planned maintenance for our operations as a result of our relationship with Dingo."
