A year and a half ago, Dingo introduced Condition Intelligence™ to the mining industry. 8/30/06 - Announcing the new Trakka V1.8

Dingo has released Trakka 1.8 with a special focus on developing a read only role for those who process samples in a workshop environment, as well as adding a report to identify bad actors (see related story in this GoodOil). Here is a summary of the new features in this release...

8/30/06 - Condition Intelligence Planners

Today’s mining environment means that the criticality of equipment availability is at an all time high.  Overworked maintenance staff are not able to handle their already huge workload, and the tight labor market means that staff changes are commonplace.  This could mean that critical oil analysis trends are going undetected until it’s too late.

8/30/06 - Improve your Asset performance – deal with your "Bad Actors"

Often the productivity of an asset is impacted by a single “Bad Actor”, a single “dud” component which consistently cripples the entire asset, or at very least puts it at risk.  A final drive in a machine may mean that a $3 Million asset is out of service for days.  This destructive leveraging makes identification of these problem components a high priority for most asset managers.

06/06/06 - Trakka 1.7 - it's not just about oil analysis anymore...

Dozer Engine Main Water Pump & Aux Water Pump Failure

What Did Oil Analysis Show?

  • The engine oil had been trending quite smoothly, with only some slight rises and falls in contaminants and wear metals.
  • On the 18th November 2005 sodium had spiked from 8ppm to 489ppm, indicating coolant entry into the engine oil, all other predictors were within limits.
  • A priority 1 work order was raised by Dingo, stand machine down immediately, and a detailed standard job was issued relating to the diagnostics steps needed.
  • The machine was immediately shut down and was floated to the work shop, where the diagnostics began.

Komatsu 830E Haul Truck Engine

A Brief History of events

  • The Komatsu truck fleet are operating under a maintenance service contract fully managed by Komatsu Australia Limited, including oil sampling utilizing their own oil lab, the engines are supplied and managed through MTU-Detroit Australia.
  • Dingo were approached by Customer to also manage the oil samples for the engines only, on the Komatsu truck fleet in August 2005.
  • During the first five months of this engine being fitted it had a known problem of coolant entering the engine oil, and was subject to numerous diagnostic efforts by MTU-Detroit and Komatsu, including pressuring the coolant system, boroscopes, black light and dye tests etc.
  • By the time Dingo and Oil Test had started analyzing the results it was deemed that all possible diagnostic efforts had been exhausted.
