Press Release
Dingo to present at Western Mine Maintenance Association annual meeting
Denver, Colo., Nov 4, 2008 – Dingo Maintenance Systems today announced that it will introduce its Condition-Based Asset Management system at the 39th annual fall conference of the Western Mine Maintenance Association, to be held Nov. 5-7, 2008, at the Terminal Center in Vancouver, British Columbia. Marc Kash, U.S. Consulting Group manager for Dingo, will present the successes and benefits of Dingo’s Condition-Based Asset Management program. This is Dingo’s first presentation at the WMMA conference.
Teck Coal Ltd’s Elkview Mine in southeastern British Columbia implemented Dingo’s Condition-Based Asset Management system in October 2007. “Dingo has provided the leadership and focus we required to make our CBAM program successful,” said Tom Nesbitt, Elkview’s Maintenance Planning foreman. “We started with more than 100 critical components and are now down to just nine -- 1 percent of our assets. Dingo has provided a value to the effort we placed on the program, resulting in a true feeling of accomplishment for our Maintenance Management team and our work force. That’s something that was lacking in other programs I’ve seen fail.”
CBAM, adopted by mining companies worldwide, offers online machinery maintenance and replacement practices to avoid unbudgeted expense in service failures. CBAM systems extend the useful life of customers’ assets and help customers avoid catastrophic in-service failures that can risk life and limb.
“Six of the top 10 mining companies in the world now use Dingo’s CBAM technology,” said Paul Higgins, Dingo president. “Our customers report tangible results within the first 12 months of adopting CBAM, including a savings of 3.5 percent of the value of their assets through breakdown avoidance and an average savings of $1.6 million in maintenance costs. They also report earning a 3:1 return on investment in less than 24 months.”
Higgins added, “Dingo is pleased to introduce CBAM’s turnkey system at WMMA’s fall conference. Marc’s presentation will allow mining operations throughout Canada to learn how our customers have avoided unscheduled breakdowns and significantly reduced unbudgeted costs.”
