I downloaded the MG.zip file yesterday and now I can't find it. Where is it ?
When I ran setup.exe and tried to access MaintenanceGuy it didn't work?
Why do I need administrative rights to install on a computer ?
When I click
on the "MaintenanceGuy Login..." button, I get the following
error message:
Line: 6
Char: 2
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: https://secure.maintenanceguy.com
Please be sure to follow each of the steps below. If your computer is not setup correctly, you may have difficulty running MaintenanceGuy.
1. Ensure that your computer meets all minimum
requirements
2. Ensure that you have administrative security rights to your computer.
3. Ensure that you have the latest Windows updates. http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
4. Download the MaintenanceGuy install files MG.zip (29
mb)
Once this download is completed, you will see a zip archive has been created.
If you do not have WinZip then this can be downloaded from http://winzip.com/downauto.cgi?winzip81.exe
This archive is password protected. Please call Dingo Customer service on USA 1-888-346-4630 Asia/Pacific +61 7 3115 9000 to who will confirm your details and give you the password needed to unlock the archive.
EXTRACT the files from the zip archive to a temporary folder on your machine (you can name this anything you like)
5. Run the Setup.exe that was extracted into the temporary folder,
and follow the installation prompts.
6. If you have a trial Username and Password then go to http://trial.maintenanceguy.com
7. If you have a production Username and Password then go to https://secure.maintenanceguy.com
When MG.zip is downloaded onto your machine, it is placed into a "temporary internet files" folder. If your machine automatically cleans up this folder when you turn off your machine, MG.zip may have been removed. If this is the case, you will need to download MG.zip again. Avoid this problem by immediately extracting the files from the MG.zip to a temporary folder, then run setup.exe from this folder, as per the installation instructions. The necessary files will then be installed on your machine.
Please call Dingo Customer service on 61 7 3115 9000 in Asia Pacific or 1-888-346-4630 in USA. A customer service representative will confirm your details and give you the password that unlocks the archive.
Make sure you run setup.exe from the temporary folder - NOT from within the zip archive. The files must be extracted before you run setup. If you didn't do this the first time, extract the files from the zip file then run setup again. You will see an option called "Repair the maintenanceguy installation". Choose this option to properly setup MaintenanceGuy.
Check what is typed in the "Address" field at the top of your web browser. It needs to be https://secure.maintenanceguy.com note that there is an "s" following the "http" which indicates you are moving to a secure website.
Check the security settings in Internet Explorer. Go to “tools” pulldown menu. Choose “internet options” Go to the “Advanced” tab. Scroll down to “Security”. Make sure that the box for “Do not save encrypted files to disk” is NOT checked.
You must upgrade windows BEFORE doing the MaintenanceGuy installation, otherwise windows will overwrite the security files, causing an access problem.
Administrative rights are required to install new programs on a computer. The MaintenanceGuy installation process installs two programs on each local machine. One is the Microsoft .NET framework, which is required to run MaintenanceGuy, which is a Microsoft .NET based application. The second program is MaintenanceGuy.exe The installation program also adds two .dll files to the Windows directory that are required by Crystal Reports, the third party printing program used by MaintenenceGuy.
